Olivia has been a part of the Dojo for nearly four years now, and her progress has been nothing short of impressive. As she steps into her freshman year, she finds herself facing a challenge few are ready for — taking on a potential leadership role at the varsity level. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: when it’s all said and done, I believe Olivia will go down as the all-time leading scorer in Alvarado High School history.
This season will likely be a learning curve, but one that will shape her into something special. Her handle gives her the versatility to play point guard, though her ability to move without the ball might be her biggest asset right now.
What separates Olivia from most is her work ethic and consistency. She’s known to show up for training at 8 AM — sometimes even earlier — always eager to improve. That level of dedication, combined with her competitive spirit, sets the tone for her growth. She’s not just a basketball player; she’s a standout athlete overall. In cross country, she made regional qualifiers as a freshman and was recognized as an All-Academic selection in district, proving she excels both on the court and in the classroom.
The next challenge for her will be learning how to lead as a freshman among older players — finding her voice, building trust, and leading through example. But if there’s one thing Olivia has shown, it’s that she never backs down from a challenge.
With the ability to slice through traffic, hit the open three, and push the pace, her offensive game continues to evolve. Defensively, there’s room to grow — but at the varsity level, that’s part of the process. With her relentless drive, athletic foundation, and discipline, I wouldn’t be surprised if she earns a scholarship — if not a full ride — down the road.
Olivia’s journey is still unfolding, but one thing is clear: her future is incredibly bright, and Alvarado basketball’s next chapter is in very capable hands.
