Training Beyond Borders

Sebastian is a sponge to the game — always seeking out new drills, always learning. The young guard has serious ability, plays tough and physical defense, and came to Dallas ready to put in real work.

Confidence is not an issue for him, and it’s easy to see why. He works hard and has trained with some of the best across the world, so it was truly a pleasure and a blessing to have him train with me during his visit to America. He’s also been mentored by NBL great and former Adelaide head coach Joey Wright, and that guidance shows in the way he carries himself on and off the floor.

With the way Sebastian approaches his craft, he absolutely has a chance to play in the NBL one day if he stays the course.

What stood out just as much as his game was his curiosity and humility. He was eager to learn at every step, even taking time to interview me and ask thoughtful questions about what it’s really like to play in the NBL — the preparation, the mindset, and the daily habits required at that level. Moments like that show a maturity beyond his years and a genuine hunger for knowledge.

He also brings a joyful energy that can instantly lift team chemistry, and I saw it right away. He came in, made friends immediately, and his teammates embraced him from the start — enjoying the Aussie accent and the different perspective he brought to the gym.

Being able to open the doors of the Dojo, share experiences, and watch him compete alongside my GameWinners team was a humbling experience for me as a coach. Opportunities like this remind me how blessed I am to be part of a game that connects people from all over the world.

I have no doubt he is holding his own against his peers back in Australia, and as he continues to grow, his progress will be worth following closely.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to have trained you, Sebastian. Keep working, stay curious, and enjoy the journey ahead.
