Rising Talent: The Future Looks Bright for Titan — A Promising Young Big on the Rise
Standing nearly 6’1″ in the 7th grade, Titan is a name that’s beginning to gain attention across youth basketball circles. His presence alone demands notice, not only for his size but for the potential and upside he carries. The talent is still developing, but the raw tools are all there. With natural size, athletic ability, and a strong desire to learn, the foundation for something special is already being built.
In just five months of training under Coach Jermaine Beal, a former professional player and four-time international champion known for developing tough and disciplined athletes, Titan’s growth has been evident. He’s become stronger, more focused, and more coachable. “The biggest challenge now,” says Coach Beal, “is learning how to control his attitude. If he masters that, it could become his greatest weapon.”
Though still very raw, Titan has shown consistent improvement. His finishing around the basket has gotten better, and he’s starting to convert layups with more confidence. The next step in his development is learning how to rebound with force and go right back up strong to finish. Coach Beal continues to walk him through the process, explaining not just how to do it, but why it matters — teaching him the thinking side of the game, not just the motions.
Recently, Titan has started setting solid ball screens for his teammates, a sign of maturity and understanding. Coach Beal has explained to him why it works — that a well-set screen doesn’t just free up a teammate, it also opens up scoring chances for him. By setting a strong pick and rolling to the basket, Titan forces the defense to make a choice, creating opportunities for himself and his team. It’s a small but powerful part of the game that shows how much he’s beginning to understand basketball at a deeper level.
Like many young players his size, learning how to defend without getting into foul trouble will come with more experience and repetition. What can’t be taught, though, is his effort and drive. Each workout, Titan brings energy, focus, and a willingness to be pushed. His consistency is starting to set him apart, and his confidence is slowly beginning to match his potential.
Looking ahead, Titan will most likely attend Midlothian High School in the years to come — a program that could serve as the perfect stage for his continued growth. With his size, work ethic, and improving understanding of the game, he has the tools to become one of the top young big men in the area and a force to be reckoned with in the coming years.
As Coach Beal puts it best, “The potential is there. The question now is, how far is he willing to take it?”
